Allison

Coach

I started teaching Pilates in my late teens, I grew up in family educators and I vowed at a young age I would never do that so I went to business school. Never say never. I love what I do, and I am so thankful for my clients and instructors. I have taught Pilates to everyone over the last 20 plus years the young the old, rock star athletes, prima ballerinas, injured, chronically ill, the beginner, and expert. I took a step back and realized it is all fun for me but what draws me in to teach Pilates and coaching is those who feel they can’t. (the secret is out you can!) I have a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Pittsburgh and two undergrad degrees from PITT. (I am learning junkie) #H2P I once did Epidemiology Research at Pitt on several NIH-funded projects.

I completed the comprehensive teacher training offered from Core Dynamics Pilates in Santa Fe, NM in the Eve Gentry tradition. Eve is one of the Pilates elders who studied with Joe Pilates. Along several thousand other hours of con-ed leading to me being a classically trained instructor gone, rogue. In 2015 I franchised my Pilates studio model and in 2018 my studio became the first Pilates studio to become a b-corp.

Emily Seaman wears many hats—Marketing Consultant, Success Coach, and Entrepreneur. She has a Bachelor of Public Relation with a minor in Marketing and has been in the marketing space for almost a decade. She recently made the switch into full time entrepreneurship with the opening of Kohr Method Incorporated, a multi-modality boutique fitness studio, located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, in Canada.

They say our pits in life are what really accelerate us to our peak moments. In 2017 she was in a serious car accident resulting in severe whiplash and spraining her upper, mid, and lower spine as well as her hips and knees. It was a long road to recovery and as part of her rehabilitative movement programming, she discovered pilates for the first time. When she was able to go back to regular exercise she decided to take her first pilates teacher training. This was the moment she fell back in love with moment and wanted to share this modality as an instructor. Fast forward to today, as a studio Co-Owner and Lead Pilates Instructor. Kohr Method offers clients many styles of movement all focused on creating transformational change for aging adults by improving quality of life, building confidence, and preventing injury. She truly believes that was one of those pit moments that helped to shape the path she's on now.

Fitness has always been a big part of Laurial's life. Laurial was a gymnast growing up. She started coaching at 14 years old, and fell in love with movement. More importantly, she fell in love with empowering others and guiding them to tap into their potential. Fitness was always a passion project – through college and even when she started working a corporate job, as a buyer for a manufacturer. Excel spreadsheets, budgeting, and sourcing by day and gym rat/yogi by night. In 2014 Laurial took a leap of faith and left her corporate job to pursue teaching/happiness, with a lofty dream of entrepreneurship. She found Pole and Aerial on a whim, and it literally swept her off her feet. She moved into a management position, and implemented a customer journey, sales processes, and a teacher training program. Then, she stepped into the role of owner in 2015. Laurial has an eye for seeing the big picture. She also has a fresh perspective of what drives a studio forward, having sat in every seat from instructor to owner. Laurial specializes in sales, KPIs, team building, and the client journey. She's also a wife and mama to her 13 year old Jack Russell fur baby, CC.

Josh

Coach

Fitness became a priority and passion for Joshua in 2012 after deciding to prioritize his personal health and wellness. He never would have guessed that this personal passion would turn into a passionate career. After obtaining his Personal Training Certification, Joshua joined SweatBox – a DC based HIIT boutique fitness studio – a month before the COVID-19 Pandemic. Beset by the challenges of learning how to run a business during one of the most difficult times, Joshua started as a Studio Manager overseeing one studio and eventually was promoted to oversee two studios in Virginia and Washington, D.C. By prioritizing clients and their experience, outside-the-box creative thinking, and pivoting quickly, Joshua grew revenue at SweatBox by an average of 15% MoM even when faced with half-capacity restrictions and mask requirements. Looking for a new challenge, Joshua became the first Area Manager for [solidcore] in Maryland with the task to rebuild the region's profitability and membership post-COVID. In less than a year, he led his team of four studio managers and thirty coaches to grow regional revenue by 40% and memberships by 54%.

Joshua is a firm believer that success in sales and business growth is tied to prioritizing clients and their experience, knowing the why behind clients' fitness goals, and relationship building. He is super excited to join Studio Grow and looks forward to helping you create a freedom-filled life.

Outside of Studio Grow, Joshua continues to coach group fitness classes, and is an actor in the DMV area. When Joshua is not coaching or acting on the stage, he loves to travel with his partner, read, and rewatch episodes of The Golden Girls.

Sharon was born and raised in New Zealand, completing her Nursing training in the North Island before moving to the South Island. Experiencing personal burnout and a chronic back injury from her nursing work, she made the move from New Zealand to Australia where she discovered Pilates as a way of healing and wellness.

Sharon is a highly trained Registered Nurse with over 30 years experience.  After a number of years working at the Metro Pain Clinic in Melbourne, she decided to take the leap and complete a Diploma in Clinical Pilates, BASI comprehensive training, and a multitude of other certificates before opening a Pilates Studio to help clients not just reduce pain, but to improve fitness and strength as they age. Listening to Lise on podcasts for nearly 18 months prior to opening her studio gave her the confidence to step into the unknown.

Now the owner and senior instructor of the successful Reach Pilates Studio in the border city of Albury/Wodonga, all the systems and processes in the studio were set up along the Studio Grow guidelines. It was tough and uncomfortable at times but the studio maintained a profit right from the start.

With aging parents still in NZ she now divides her time between the two countries. In her spare time you’ll find her in one of her many creative endeavours including painting, patchwork, and home renovation. Her happy place is at the beach or in the garden.

Business Development and Sales

Rory is a University of South Carolina grad, but a “Jersey Boy” at heart. Growing up in an environment where “gym, tan, laundry” was life, he developed a passion for the fitness industry as it was a second home for most. Working most of his teenage years in a mixed martial arts studio, Rory pursued a degree in Sports Management at the University of South Carolina. Upon graduation, he began a career in business development with The Wildflower Group. Working closely with brands like Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Runner’s World, and Bicycling magazine he strategized and executed licensing and brand extension initiatives leading to major brick and mortar retail programs in the US and abroad. After spending 4 years with The Wildflower Group, Rory left to head up business development for Skinnygirl and Bethenny Frankel. Working hand-in-hand with the founder and CEO, Rory generated over $5,000,000 in contractual guarantees in 2017 in addition to leading the [5] straight quarters of incremental growth. Upon leaving his role with Bethenny, he went out on his own and began a small marketing and business development consultancy. With a natural talent to connect with people, a creative sales approach, and a genuine passion for helping people Rory always “finds a way.” Often described as resourceful, reliable, and available, he now leads on business development for multiple products and brands in the marketplace.

Curriculum Project Manager

I have worked in multiple industries (healthcare, retail, non-profits, etc) in customer service, curriculum development, education and project management roles. I truly enjoy working with and for studio owners as I'm a bit obsessed with working out. When not working out, I love spending time with my 3 kids and chasing my Army husband around the world.
