Podcast Episode 136: Meet Michelle Long, Creator of The Practice and Founder of Bloom Retreat, A Holistic Women’s Healing Center That’s Building Sisterhood, Strength and Solidarity

I met Michelle by a chance encounter.

A mutual friend, who is a doyenne in the health and wellness space, connected us and I fell in love at first meeting.

She isn’t a typical yoga studio owner. In fact, she isn’t a typical anything. She’s redefined the boundaries of what it means to be a mother, entrepreneur, healer, dreamer, and thought leader.

And, she’d taken a whole lot of blessed people along for the ride.

Her studio, Bloom Retreat, which is nestled in the suburbs of San Francisco, is best described a wholeness center for women…

But, I can’t help, but think of it as a lifeline, a circle of sisterhood in the midst of an insanely busy world that unites women in their journey to become the healthy, vibrant creatures that nature intended us to be.

Under the umbrella of Bloom exists movement modalities {from yoga to small group training, to prenatal to their signature program, The Practice}, chiropractic care, mental health therapists, acupuncturists, massage therapists and holistic aestheticians.

It’s a carefully curated mix of dream practitioners on a mission… and clients have flocked to their doors.

Out of everything that brings me utter joy, not much beats The Practice itself.

This 10 week program walks women through a journey into self — you know that real self we’re all dreaming of, but rarely finding.

It’s meditations, journaling, creative expressions, and movement combine to form a deeply personal space for women to come into their own… I’m only dreaming of having this open on my side of the country.

And, that’s likely to happen sooner rather than later.

One of the best parts of this interview is delving into the teacher training program for The Practice that launches in September. This is a dream many teachers hold, but few bring to fruition. So hearing Michelle’s wisdom on timing and execution gave me inspiration for so many who dream of bringing their unique work to the world.

On today’s episode, you’ll learn:

  • How Michelle’s vision actually came from her own struggles
  • How and why she went against the advice of others when opening her
    business
  • The way Michelle attracts the right employees
  • Why women can have a hard time showing up for themselves
  • We can’t love ourselves until this happens…

With grit + gratitude,

Lisé
