Podcast Episode 105: Meet Johdi Woodford, a Swiss Fitness Studio Owner who Quadrupled her Monthly Revenue in less than four weeks thanks to this simple Facebook Ad promotion.

You’re going to fall in love with Johdi Woodford immediately as her story is total happenstance.

She was an avid runner who injured her quad. Her doctor told her very abruptly to stop running, lose some weight, and do Pilates. Not what she wanted to hear.

She didn’t even know what Pilates was before and had no interest outside of drinking cider and running.

She left with a prescription of 10 sessions of Pilates. And while Pilates was boring at first, she was able to start jogging after 6 sessions. She was officially hooked after that.

Ten years after that prescription, she started training to become a Pilates trainer.

But then tragedy hit while she was pregnant with her second daughter. Three weeks before she was due, Johdi went to the hospital for what she thought were contractions.

Unfortunately she lost her baby and had to still give birth.

When she came out of the other side of that, she realized she had to stop dabbling in Pilates and taught a few languages at an university.

But of course, that’s not the end of her story.

So listen into Episode 105 and you’ll learn:

  • How an injury introduced Johdi to Pilates and a life-threatening event allowed her to take the leap she needed
  • What services set hers apart from other Pilates centers
  • How Johdi ended up with four times the clients in just one month
  • How she is able to incorporate flexibility for her children into her work schedule
  • Johdi’s plan to serve people with severe movement disabilities
  • Why she feels her “Crash and Learn” is still yet to come
  • Why you NEED to invest in a good coach!

Podcast Episode 103: How one Houston Pilates Studio Owner Is Thriving Under Tough Economic Conditions, Growing Her Profits Their Highest Levels in 9 Years and Finally Enjoying Some Well Deserved Free Time

Have you always knew you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

I have, but my incredible guest Melanie Masser didn’t always know.

She actually started out as a professional ballerina for 15 years before even entering the pilates space.

As she was working in these studios, she realized something about herself – she didn’t enjoy teaching in group environments.

Most studios are in a large space with tons of equipment and that just wasn’t Melanie’s ideal work environment.

So as she built up her clientele and found herself needing a quiet space to practice.

She found the perfect place that wasn’t anymore than what she was already renting from a larger studio.

And she took the leap into entrepreneurship!

And this is where I want to interject to remind you that it’s so important that we build a business around what’s right for us.

You can be successful if you’re doing just group. You can be successful doing all 1-on-1s. You can be successful in any of these things and there are commonalities of how you’re going to package and price your services that works across all those dynamics.

So listen into Episode 103 and you’ll learn:

  • How Melanie was able to use her weakness as a positive catalyst into entrepreneurship

  • The one biggest things she’s learned since her business has taken a new direction

Podcast Episode 100: {Epic Mindset Shifts} Am I really the only person who can make my clients happy?

I was 22 when I started managing my first yoga, Pilates and training studio.

Twiddling my thumbs enjoying the fruits of my labor I’d earned from my first company didn’t quite suit this girl, and I’d fallen in love with Pilates.

Within one month, I was driving three hours away to get certified and as soon as I had my certificate in hand I wanted one thing and one thing only…to teach.

I was the first Pilates instructor in the facility and alongside Pilates, I saw traditional personal training and yoga/meditation clients.

I was full to the brim in weeks, working from 5 AM sipping green tea and listening to Norah Jones until 11:30 when I’d head for lunch with my bestie, Paul who owned the linen’s store I lived above.

It was my dream life…until I realized my life was moving just a little too fast.  Suddenly, I was asked if I could work from 4-7:30 1, 2 then 3 days and all I had time for was work. Work. work.

Within a month I hit my breaking point, but it took me almost 6 months to make a change because I was crippled with one serious fear…that my clients wouldn’t tolerate anyone but me.

Or that there would be a mass exodus and I would be responsible for losing the studio’s hard earned money.  And, my clients…what would happen to them?

Listen to Episode 100 and you’ll learn:

  • What do you do when your clients only want you?
  • What happened when I realized I couldn’t sustain what I had built
  • How I changed my “savior mindset”
  • The difference between asking your clients what they want, and offering them solutions
  • How the power of my long-term goal served me
