Brooke Bowersock and Celebrating the Spirit of Gathering (Part 3)

Hi there, I’m Brooke and for the past few weeks, I’ve taken over Ready.Aim.Empire to celebrate all things Pilates and speak to some of the leading experts in the industry.

This week marks the end of my little three episode series.

And boy, are we ending with a good one!

Over the past three episodes, I’ve been asking these incredible Pilates instructors and studio owners about what the word ‘gathering’ means to them.

We’ve had some incredible answers, from seeing the word as an opportunity to connect with old friends and colleagues to viewing it as a way to cleanse the body and soul after a rough year.

Today’s episode features one of my favorite interpretations of the word yet.

Rebekah Rotstein, the founder of Buff Bones, likens the word to a quilt – something seamless, beautiful, and warm created by the coming together of different things.

My other guest Raelea Saxton, who recently opened her own pilates studio in Sacramento, wholeheartedly agrees and adds that it’s a way for her to learn from her peers and constantly improve upon her craft.

These definitions inspired me as I prep for The ALIGN Pilates Summit – the first in-person gathering I’ve ever organized! Speaking to my colleagues has made me realize that I’ve been working my whole life towards helping people gather again, even if I didn’t know it.

So today, I’d love for you to put your headphones on and celebrate gathering with Rebekah, Raelea, and myself. Let’s never take this word for granted again.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • What the meaning of “gathering” is at this point of time
  • Thoughts on moving during a pandemic
  • How pivoting during the pandemic dramatically changed the mindsets of instructors and studio owners around the world
  • What to do to take the time for yourself in a constantly-changing environment
  • Gaining a new perspective on the lessons to bring forward after the pandemic

With grit and gratitude,

Lisé

Brooke Bowersock and Celebrating Pilates (Part 2)

Hi, it’s Brooke again!

Last week, I took over Ready.Aim.Empire to introduce all of you to some of the best pilates instructors in the industry right now.

Today, we’re continuing our celebration of all things Pilates by chatting with Maria Leone and Leah Stewart!

Maria is the owner of Bodyline Pilates in LA and has been training teachers for over two decades now (fun fact: she also taught me in my first mat certification back in 2000!) while Leah is the founder of The LiveLife Movement and a leading expert in post-natal Pilates and is passionate about getting women moving and healthy.

In today’s episode, we hear their own thoughts on gathering and why they think virtual gatherings have been a blessing over the past year. They also discuss pivoting, why they think being Pilates teachers gave them a natural ability to do it, what their relationship with movement is like, and more!

This episode is filled with incredible pieces of advice, from the motto that got Maria through 2021, to what kept them going despite lockdown mandates, and more!

If you love Pilates, or just want to hear two incredible female entrepreneurs share their stories, this is the perfect episode for you.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • Maria’s journey and experience with training virtually
  • About Leah’s journey online, and how shifting her business and life created the opportunity to serve even more women
  • Why gathering and the power of touch is so critical right now
  • What moving forward and bringing what you were grateful for these past two years will provide you

With grit and gratitude,

Lisé

Brooke Bowersock and Navigating In-Person Gatherings Again

Hi everyone! I’m Brooke Bowersock, pilates trainer since 2000 and founder of ALIGN Pilates.

And I’m taking over Ready.Aim.Empire!

That’s right, for the next couple of weeks, I’ll be taking Lise’s place and hosting some of the best instructors in the world of pilates in what’s going to be the biggest celebration of the industry on the internet.

It all starts today, so I hope you’re ready!

In this kick-off episode, I’m chatting with 3 pilates greats:

  • Benjamin Degenhardt, the creator of March Madness
  • Danica Kalemdaroglu, founder of Pilates804 in Richmond, VA
  • Delia Buckmaster, founder of Delia Pilates and someone I credit for introducing boutique fitness to Northwestern Montana

Now apart from being incredible studio owners, Benjamin, Danica, and Delia have one thing in common:

They’re all going to meet me (and scores of other pilates enthusiasts) in the ALIGN Pilates Summit in Austin, TX next month!

In my excitement to finally meet all these wonderful people in person and celebrate pilates with them, I HAD to ask them one question in this episode:

What does the word ‘gathering’ mean to you?

As many of you gear up to participate in your own fitness gatherings moving forward, navigating that world can not only be exciting, but also stressful and nerve wracking.

In this episode, our experts dissect every aspect of in-person gatherings – the good, the bad, and the ugly – so we can prepare ourselves for them moving forward.

If the prospect of meeting people in-person again leaves you feeling confused, this is the episode for you!

In this episode, you will learn:

  • The true meaning of gathering, and why making time for it in your schedule is so important
  • How the idea of gatherings has changed for each guest, and plus what it will look like for them going forward
  • What they are most excited about for the future in their own practices
  • The role that the Pilates’ community played throughout the pandemic in supporting its studios
  • Lessons they are taking forward with them as they enter this new phase of re-gathering

With grit and gratitude,

Lisé

Betsey O’Malley, Allison Zhang, and the Beauty of Balance

Today’s episode is all about balance.

And I don’t just mean the ‘standing on one foot’ kind. I mean balance in terms of what you offer in your studio to help your clients develop holistically, balance in terms of how you manage your team, and balance between your work and private lives.

Today’s guests – Betsey O’Malley and Allison Zhang – are living examples of how balance can help your studio grow and thrive.

Betsey is the owner of Balance Pilates and Wellness in Michigan, where she’s truly been able to scale her business with services, products, and opportunities for her clients. Her team, consisting of trainers, instructors, nutritionists, and chefs, make sure that her clients grow and get healthier in every aspect.

This balance in growth has led to her studio being one of our biggest success stories yet, with a 35% growth that year during a global pandemic.

My other guest, Allison, is not only a franchise owner who looks over 5 studio locations, but is also an important member of the Studio Grow team!

And despite all the hats she has to wear, Alison has the optimal work-life balance. She works for 20 hours a week, gets the job done, and is able to spend time with her family, and take days off WHILE watching her business grow.

In this week’s episode, these two lovely ladies will be taking you through their top tips for how you can incorporate balance and peace into your own business!

In this episode, you will learn:

  • The creative services and products that Betsey has developed to give her clients a “what’s next” option
  • How she was able to restructure her studio to accommodate what her clients were asking for
  • The challenges of building a team and adding a lot of sessions to the schedule
  • Her thoughts on the opportunity in investing in real estate
  • The systems Allison has developed to allow her to work the hours that she wants to work
  • How Studio Grow helped her with the sale processes she uses, and how her intentional intake has changed since the COVID-19 pandemic
  • The ways that automation and pre-scripted emails have changed the workflow in her business

With grit and gratitude,

Lisé
