Outside of growing from a sole business owner to a team, there has been no bigger bottleneck, money waster and headache inducing troubles than bringing the wrong technology into my business…

Sometimes it’s been the right tech, but the wrong time. Sometimes it’s just paying for the most expensive software way too prematurely.

But most often, it was a problem in systems and hiring that I thought could be magically fixed by a new technology….

FYI, this normally just makes the current problems bigger than you knew they could ever be.

Technology should simplify things, not complicate them.

And here are my 4 biggest tips about technology decisions:

    1. Even the best technology cannot fix ineffective communication systems or the wrong hire.
    2. Beware the allure of innovation.
    3. Cut the cord and make the switch.
    4. The most important {and most inexpensive switches to technology} come with customer billing and team project management systems.

Listen into Episode 086 and you’ll learn:

    • Technology will not fix underlying staffing issues and new systems cannot fix ineffective communications
    • As a business owner, you have a bandwidth of responsibility – you should always be focused on revenue growth as a number one responsibility
    • Why your billing systems and your customer service systems need to talk with each other
    • Reporting is the lifeblood of you knowing where your business is going to go
    • What are the most effective converting checkout pages for online businesses
    • Here are the CRM systems I recommend…
    • What email providers have the most support?

We’ve got part 2 of dealing with a low cost competitor here.

It takes something very different to be a competition killer – a lot of layers, a lot of systems, and a lot of strategy.

It’s completely possible for you to rule your market place no matter if you’re in the biggest city or the smallest town.

We’re discussing the marketing side of things to really crush the competition.

I spend an enormous amount of time and energy on marketing because I know that pulling the right clients through the door is the problem most of the time.

You have to make sure you have the packages, the education and sales systems to really bring them on long-term. But if you have those, all you have to do is draw the right people through the door.

My marketing program was vastly effective once I saw my first round of competition.

I could pretty much rely on most people walking through my door.

I was growing relatively fast  in the small community, but after 2 years, our normal walk-ins just sort of disappeared. They started going to the other person first because they were a whole lot cheaper.

It meant that my marketing message really needed to change.

However, I’m immensely grateful for that time because I learned how to build amazing opt-ins and content that would draw in my customers.

I’ve used these in each and every one of my businesses. Seriously.

And trust me you’ll want to get your hands on the $100K email because by now, it’s actually generated us well over a million dollars. Check underneath the Links to get your copy!

Crash & Learns are where I interview an entrepreneur about a time that they probably don’t want to talk about – a total business failure.

This week, I’m talking to Mike Kim, a marketing consultant and business coach that specializes in branding. Mike has this incredible ability to tell a story.

Since Mike’s first day in the C-Suite of the corporate world, he was plotting to get out of there. I think you’ll find a lot of commonalities with Mike’s story.

        • What is a “thought leader”?
        • What are the three parts that identify a personal brand?
        • Why it is important to not be so focused on having every piece of work or content your masterpiece – progress over perfect!
        • Why conveying trust is one of the most important things to do when branding
        • Your marketing is in your personal story…

This is really tough, y’all, but I hope I can ease your anxiety around this topic.

There’s really two types of companies you can have:

          • Walmarts – rely on the cheapest prices possible with tons of volume
          • Premium packages – higher level of service and earnings

It is obvious which ones of those two I chose to be.

Because remember – to make $100,000, you can either get 10 people to pay $10,000 versus 100 paying $1,000 vs. 1,000 people paying $100.

I’ve always thought I would go in the shortest and simplest period of time to get to my goals.

On top of that, I like that high-tough environment. It’s really where I thrive.

But I can remember when I had to face a low cost competitor. Our services averaged around $150/month and they were doing the same type of service for $40-$50/month.

So we were 3 times more expensive. I really was devastated because we were in a town of 4,000 so any competition was really going to hit our business hard.

I decided to turn to my parents who were really incredible entrepreneurs and they gave me some fantastic guidance on how to turn this around.

Listen into Episode 083 and you’ll learn:

          • How changing my mindset catapulted me into becoming a competition killer (and changed my business in a number of ways)
          • What it means to say, “When they go low, we go high”
          • What is a $100,000 email, and how do I get it?
          • When it comes to premium pricing, why you need to show why you’re worth it…
          • What is the difference between premium pricing and premium packaging?
          • The importance of asking the right questions so people can see the value of your product or service for themselves
